Dr Sally Roach has been living in Bali for nearly 12 years and is originally from Perth, in Western Australia. Sally is an Occupational Therapist with a Doctorate degree in Health Sciences. Sally works voluntarily to supervise Occupational Therapy students who come here for clinical placements. The students provide a service for local children with mild to severe disabilities, who otherwise would not have any therapy.
Sri Kusumawati is Sally’s assistant as well as being a translator for the students work. Sri lives in Pemogan with her husband and two children. Sri is also now trained as an OT Assistant and works with the other OTAs to support the children who need therapy.
Suprayitno (Yit) is from Banyuwangi in East Java and has lived in a number of different places in Indonesia. He has been working with the OT students in Bali now for over 5 years and he is very much loved by the children. Yitno works as a translator for the Australian students and has also been trained as an OTA. On a few occasions we have had some funding so that Yitno has been able to provide therapy for the children at times we don’t have students here.
Kadek Sukasih is Balinese from Karangasam and lives with her husband and daughter in Denpasar. Kadek has just given birth to her second child but we hope she will be back translating for us and doing OTA work in the not too distant future.
Kadek Cahyani is Balinese and lives in Denpasar with her family. She has worked and lived in Norway and Denmark in the past and would like to travel more in Europe. Kadek works as an OT assistant and a translator for the students.
